Let's see...
My cousin asked me to write a blog post for our church website. About? Good question - in short, Holy Days. In long, a religious holiday and convocation we will be celebrating and observing in just a few short days from the eve of January 3rd - January 10th. The thought came to me, "take advantage, not for granted."
This is a special time of year that, for many reasons, the re-establisher of our religion gave to us, for us - to observe. Seemingly, even back in 1904, winter was a draining time on people, and God placed on Prophet Crowdy's heart that we, His people, would need this time to reflect, regret, repent, rest, revive.
Reflect - Crowdy called for us to reflect on the goodness of God and for us to give an offering of praise and worship for God's goodness. I personally believe he didn't want us, the members of the Church and body of Christ, to move how the world was moving. At the time, the world was sprinting towards what we now call the Great Depression Era. He didn't want that for the Saints, and took proactive measures to draw us nearer to God. It was especially important for the Saints to bless the Lord, and remember all of His benefits toward us - the children of God.
Regret may happen at times when we reflect - luckily, we in the Church have been taught that regret is apart of the process of repentance.
Repent and believe - instructions Jesus left. Simple instructions and process, don't complicate it.
Rest helps us to be our best, and refreshed - God gives His beloved rest - use it.
Revive - intentionally with praise and worship, asking God the Father to give us the Holy Spirit!
Watch if we ask God to fill us with the Holy Spirit, what will happen throughout the Church!
Watch if we praise and worship God how we're admonished to, what will happen locally - globally to the body of Christ!
Watch if we get on one accord, how God will heal and restore the whole body!
Watch if we do the things we've been commanded to do, how happy we will be!
Going into the week, let's not take it for granted. It very well could be your best Holy Convocation to date, and it could also be your last!
Let's go into this thing with "trueness of heart and everyone behaving themselves rightly and not puffed up serving God with truthfulness and pureness of mind and God will give us showers of blessings!"
